The new Land Rover Defender Trophy Edition is raising the bar for off-road vehicles. This SUV is packed with features that make it the perfect choice for those who love to hit the trails. With a durable design and plenty of power, the Defender Trophy Edition is sure to be a favorite among the few lucky owners.
The first thing you’ll notice about the Defender Trophy Edition is its aggressive stance. It’s clear that this SUV means business. The beefed-up frame and increased ground clearance enable the Defender to tackle any terrain.
What Does It Offer?
Under the hood, the Defender Trophy Edition is powered by a hybrid twin-charged 3.0-liter inline-six engine that delivers a somewhat impressive 395 horsepower. This SUV can produce 406 lb.-ft of torque, making it ideal for those who love to go off the beaten path.
You’ll also appreciate the 8-speed automatic transmission and the Terrain Management System™ that helps you navigate any terrain. However, what you won’t enjoy is the partly 17 city and 22 highway mpg which it offers.
The Defender Trophy Edition is available with an optional sporty interior upgrade, which adds black detailing to the seats and center console, as well as a leather-wrapped steering wheel. What’s more, it has fog lights, which are great for cutting through the dense fog while providing increased safety on the road at night.
The SUV also includes front and rear mudflaps as well as a retractable roof ladder and electronic winch. In short, the Defender Trophy Edition is completely loaded with all of Land Rover’s off-road enhancements.
The Defender Heritage
The Land Rover Defender is, without a doubt, an off-road icon, and just like the Jeep Wrangler and the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, it began life as a robust military vehicle for transporting soldiers to the harshest locations.
However, the Defender’s reputation is not only rooted in its military past, as much of its credibility comes from the Defender Trophy model, a series of SUVs that have crossed the most challenging terrain possible. Now Land Rover pays tribute to them with the new Defender Trophy Edition model.
Trophy Edition
“Defender Trophy Edition continues to preserve the spirit of adventure while respecting Land Rover’s rich and iconic heritage,” said Joe Eberhardt, president, and CEO of Jaguar Land Rover North America.
Production will be limited to 250 units in the US, which will be based on the Defender 90 P400 model. The number 90 means it will be a shorter version, while the number 400 refers to the power of its turbocharged 6-cylinder engine and mild hybrid technology.
The vintage-inspired Defender is wrapped in a new and unique yellow foil that features classic Defender Trophy graphics and badging and is equipped with the Extended Black Exterior package, towbar, air suspension, Cold Climate Package, Off-Road package, and Land Rover’s Advanced Off-Road Capability package.
Each of these packages can be ordered for the standard Defender, but combining them all in one SUV results in a fantastic SUV.
Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 system is standard and automatically detects external driving conditions, after which it adjusts the vehicle. This system can select the appropriate driving mode and electronically lock and unlock the differentials without any assistance from the driver.
This Defender is unstoppable on off-road terrain, but Land Rover leaves nothing to chance, so it equipped the SUV with a roof rack with an extendable ladder, an electric winch, fenders, an integrated air compressor, and thicker floor mats that better protect the interior from dirt.
This sets the price tag of this off-roading beauty at $95,000.
