2024 Land Rover Defender 130 V8

The 2024 model, a mightier defender than the last, is a luxury, top-quality, midsize SUV that exhibits its high-performance attributes on and off the road.

With the vehicle’s off-road prowess and superior space, you are sure to have eyes staring till you are out of sight. Driving in this Land Rover gives you the confidence to move around in a comfy and capable vehicle.

Features

The 2024 Land Rover Defender 130 is fully equipped with 21st-century intuitive technologies for all kinds of adventures. It will be available in 5 trims and comes with a color palette scheme. The technology is updated regularly to guarantee visibility, convenience, and connectivity.

There are also unique, precise details like the wood veneer and noble chrome materials that elevate the design intensity even further. The expansive touchscreen on the center dash has increased brightness and shows an extended portion of the route ahead while navigating.

A panoramic sunroof allows the natural light to bathe the front seats when it slides open. The other glass roof, which is special to only this model, ensures that occupants of the third-row experience the same authentic feel of the Defender vehicle as everyone else in the Land Rover.

The finishing touches in the interior come in a variety of options, which also include light oyster-perforated Windsor and vintage van leather. The cushion width and legroom of the third row are greater than any other seat rows in the vehicle, having cup holders, USB-C charging ports, and armrests. There’s even more room for passengers and cargo in the third row.

The Engine and Performance

The 2024 Land Rover Defender 130 V8 has mild-hybrid engines and standard equipment.

Land Rover’s new model is powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 engine fitted with off-road upgrades that deliver about 600 horsepower. It uses a 5.0-liter displacement engine to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds. It might crawl in corners, but there’s no stopping on straightaways, with a departure angle of 28.5 degrees.

Although it is slightly lower than the Defender 110’s 40-degree departure angle, it still has a competitive edge among its off-roading rivals. This model also features an exhaust with quad tips made from titanium, raised suspensions, wide wheel arches, and mud flaps.

The Defender is built to smoothly handle all sorts of terrains owing to its off-the-road capabilities and on-road natural performances. It takes you confidently and carefully from urban jungles to sand-shifting terrains and finally scales you successfully through an icy environment, thanks to its accessory packs; the explorer pack, the country pack, the adventure pack, and the urban pack.

The Defender 130 also offers a four-zone climate control system for cooling and heating the vehicle in these zones, independently operated for the three rows of seats.

The Exterior Styling

The exterior styling doesn’t fall below your expectations considering the luxury of the Defender 130. Its unique silhouette displayed throughout the vehicle’s smooth bodywork is no match, an immediate indicator of all the characters the Defender can perform.

This new Defender features huge fender flares and wider flares. There are also massive air intakes and more lightweight components owing to the size of this beauty, with the air suspension being standard. Defender is styled with the toughest materials created for optimum durability, but it also has its own limits.

The lightweight wheels come in huge sizes of 20 inches, which only means that the brakes are larger for reliable control on the wider track. The spare wheel covers are body-colored, which improves the deliberate and cohesive aesthetic design.

Its vertical length, from the tip to its spare wheel, measures up to 5,358 mm, making it impossible to overlook. At the same time, the wheelbase has the same measurements as the five-seater Defender 110 model, which is 3022 mm.

The LED lights are boldly placed at both the front and rear of the vehicle, with extra illuminators. The word “defender” is also inscribed on the front bumper, in all caps, screaming exclusivity. You can also find the Land Rover symbol below it and at the side.

The Interior Design

The 2024 Land Rover Defender 130 is an eight-seater, having three rows of seats in a two-three-three setup, offering the occupants unrivaled comfort.

The second and third rows of seats will be folded down. With this arrangement, the entire body length of the Defender 130 boasts 80.9 cubic feet of cargo space, which is a lot of space. The roof will also have a load limit.

According to Land Rover, the cabin offers an extra length of 34 centimeters, surpassing the Defender 110 by 13.38 inches, which increases cargo capacity and passenger space, implying that there will still be a reasonable amount of cargo space even when all seats are occupied. With this space, you can confidently fit in a complete entertainment set.

Speaking of the infotainment system, this model is exclusive to the 11.4-inch touchscreen in the center dash. Control buttons will also be on the door panels, center dash, and steering wheel. You can configure the center console at the front to your style, either with or without a refrigerator.

The interior compartment will be wrapped with leather-free and wood appointments and can be customized to suit the customer’s demands on both material and color. The leather-free material engaged is a new one Land Rover calls “resist.” It is also used for carpet mats, and luxury carpeted cargo spaces.

It has a low carbon footprint compared to other leather alternatives used in previous models. The resist material has been tested and shown to have extreme durability, a soft feel, a fine grain appearance, and is easy to maintain.

The Price

The base price starts at $69,350. The actual cost for a fully equipped Defender 130 Land Rover comes to $86,750, and this is without the additional upgrades that make the vehicle more luxurious.

If you then decide to add the cost of a few upgrades, you will easily come down to a six-figure price. Of course, a V8 is the most expensive, but it is worth its price.

Pros

  • Excellent handling and performance
  • Luxurious body style
  • Amazing off-road capabilities
  • Luggage can easily be offloaded

Conclusion

Starting from its intentional stance to its sophisticated, precise surfaces, everything concerning the 2024 Defender 130 exudes brilliance.

The 2024 Defender 130 combines function and form, capability and space, to achieve an imposing presence. Even looking at the exterior styling alone, the vehicle demands ultimate attention on and off the road.

Land Rover Defender Gets a Modern Makeover with Electric Powertrain

ECD Automotive Design, the world’s largest Land Rover restoration company, has once again left a mark on the restoration and modification industry with its latest project, the electrifying Project Ghost. Renowned for its custom builds that span from vintage Defenders to classic Jaguar E-Types, ECD has pushed the envelope with its new electric Defender 110.

The head-turning matte gray Land Rover Defender 110 boasts an EV drivetrain, making it a unique blend of classic design and modern technology. While not the first electric Defender, ECD’s creation features a 450-horsepower motor and a 100kWh battery pack, offering ample power for cruising through city streets. However, the range remains unspecified in the press release.

ECD’s CEO and co-founder, Scott Wallace, emphasizes the importance of tailoring each custom Defender to the client’s specific needs. The company delves deep into details such as the build’s location, intended use, and the primary driver’s size to create a Defender that clients will adore.

For Project Ghost, ECD accommodated the client’s taller stature by reducing the size and height of the seat box, allowing the seat to sit lower and move further back than in the original Defender. This customization provides enhanced comfort for taller drivers.

The revamped Defender 110 sits on 16-inch matte black Wolf Steel wheels, complementing the other black exterior accents such as the roll cage, steering guard, and vents. Inside, modern black leather Corbeau Trailcat reclining seats feature a bold scarlet red vertical diamond single stitch on the seatbacks. The versatile interior accommodates up to seven passengers, with three Land Rover 60/40 seats in the middle and two forward-facing jump seats in the back.

Project Ghost’s Puma dashboard, wrapped in black leather, has switched the traditional panel and center console positions for improved driver convenience and is adorned with ECD electric gauges. Other custom touches include a black MOMO Prototipo steering wheel and metal billet buttons on the radio panel. For entertainment during nighttime city cruises, the vintage Defender is equipped with an Alpine Halo touchscreen, JL Audio speakers, and a JBL Active subwoofer. The audio system supports Bluetooth, CarPlay, Sirius XM, and traditional radio stations. Additional luxury updates include three USB ports, WiFi, and a backup camera.

ECD Automotive Design’s Project Ghost expertly marries classic Land Rover Defender aesthetics with modern electric powertrain technology, creating an exhilarating and unique driving experience for those who appreciate both the old and the new.

2023 Land Rover Defender 80

If you want a vehicle from Land Rover’s most daring SUV line, consider the 2023 Land Rover Defender 80; it’s more affordable and sportier.

With this model, you can use “military-inspired” and “cute” in the same sentence because that’s what it is. The defender 80 is the brand’s smallest offering to date, but its modest size does not prevent it from providing a more practical package in the Land Rover Defender line.

The Defender 80 is the Land Rover’s revitalized classic piece; it keeps its fresh feel with a few infotainment upgrades and a simplified lineup.

The Features

The Defender 80 is an adventurous model thanks to numerous off-road technology aspects like the off-road driving modes and air suspension that adjust ground clearance.

The new Pivi Pro infotainment system from Land Rover is standard, with a 10-inch touchscreen display. The system is the newest in Jaguar-Land Rover technology for managing and controlling over-the-air software updates.

Optional options include Android Auto and Apple Carplay, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and in-dash navigation.

Additional standard features include lane departure warnings, forward collision warnings, rear cross-traffic alerts, and blind spots. Additionally, innovative technologies are available as alternatives.

Adaptive cruise control, a standard autonomous braking system for emergencies with pedestrian detection, and lane detection warning with lane-keeping assist are among the key driver-help features.

These elements are meant to increase both the driver’s and the passenger’s safety.

Engine and Performance

The engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter Ingenium four-cylinder made by Land Rover. It has 246 horsepower. The base model comes with a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder engine that can make about 160 hp.

This type of engine is good enough for the 2023 Land Rover Defender 80 can go up to 135 miles per hour, and it can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds, which is pretty amazing.

Since it is a small SUV, it has good gas mileage. It gets 21 miles per gallon on the highway and 18 miles per gallon in the city, for a combined average of 20 miles per gallon. For a luxury off-roader, this is a great mileage record.

Even with its trim, the Defender 80 has a great look and is very good off-road, thanks to its strong four-wheel drive.

It also shows departure angles, a break-over, a large number of kind approaches, and ground clearance. When driving around town, stopping is easy because the brakes are easy to use.

The Exterior Styling

Although it had a new redesign, the Defender 80 still closely mimics the approach of the Defender’s exterior styling. The shape and front face are quite similar, except that it is smaller in dimensions than the Defender 90.

The exterior is styled to have a boxy appearance with reduced proportions and four doors. It appears cool, although the front end may look soft from most angles.

The Defender 80 is set to ride on all-terrain tires and has optional 20-inch axles, which, surprisingly, do not transfer the noise from the road vibrations to the interior compartment.

The standard wheels are 18 inches. These large, heavy wheels help to keep the Defender 80 firm when going over road imperfections and bumps.

There are average-sized mirrors and large windows, which enhance outward visibility. The surround-view camera, which turns 360 degrees, aids in parking the vehicle when going off-road, providing you with a comprehensive view of whatever obstacle you seem to be approaching.

The Interior

The interior compartment of the Defender 80 has enough space to accommodate four adults, with adequate room for luggage and gear at the back.

The second row is massive, and the tall roof gives the vehicle a roomy feel. There is a lot of leg, head, and shoulder room. However, the steering column can cause some obstruction to some drivers’ knees, especially tall drivers and those with long legs, when they try to get in.

This vehicle has more than eight airbags as standard equipment. The driver’s seat also comes with an extensive range of adjustments.

The upholstery is designed to allow easy cleanup and maintenance, being stain-resistant, and some models have carpet-less interiors.

For the most sophisticated and expensive models, the interior compartment is well-wrapped with leather upholstery and other luxurious features that make it even more sophisticated.

Some of these luxury items, like adjustable ambient interior lighting, ventilated and heated seats, and dual-zone climate control, help to improve the comfort state of the high-end Defender 80 models.

The Price

The base price will start around $30,000, with its trim levels having higher prices than this. You can expect a price above $50,000 to own a complete vehicle package of the 2023 Land Rover Defender 80.

There is no complimentary maintenance scheduled.

The limited warranty is 50,000 miles or four years, and the powertrain warranty also covers up to 50,000 miles or four years.

Pros

  • Easy maintenance
  • High technology safety
  • Strong off-road capabilities
  • Stain-resistant upholstery
  • A host of customizable options
  • Impressive off-road features
  • Smooth ride for an SUV off-road-oriented
  • A nice suspension configuration
  • Vintage style

Cons

  • The price of optional features can be high
  • The rear hatch is heavy, and it opens toward the limit.
  • Poor fuel economy
  • The third row is rather too small

Conclusion

Even though the 2023 Land Rover Defender 80 is known for its real, impressive off-road ability, it doesn’t forget about comfort on the road.

The Defender 80 is a modern Land Rover with luxury features that make it easy to live in a big city. And when going outside to explore, it’s hard to find a better way to do it in grand style with another vehicle.
